Activated Charcoal – Benefits of Activated Charcoal
Benefits of activated charcoal… I decided to post some info on the activated charcoal. What is activated charcoal? – check out wikipedia for that answer. What are some of the benefits of this inexpensive product? – keep reading.
My sister just posted this on facebook and she is so excited about all the benefits of activated charcoal that she wants to share it with everyone. Here is the note she wrote:
Recently I have become super fascinated with the wonders of activated charcoal. It all started with Gracie (18 mos old) finding some long-forgotten-about rat poisoning. She didn’t eat any, but it got me thinking about poisoning and what I would do if she had swallowed the poison. I knew in the back of my mind that activated charcoal is good for such things (poisoning, food poisoning, bee stings, etc). But I didn’t really know anything else. I figured I should at least have some charcoal availabe, in case I ever needed it.
When I went to order some, my eye caught this book called Charcoal Remedies. On a whim I purchased it thinking I probably could be a bit more informed on this new topic of charcoal. And boy am I glad that I bought that book!!! I had no idea what marvelous things that activated charcoal can do. It is best known for poisoning (lesser known for clearing up diarrhea and for upset stomachs). But this barely scratches the surface of the uses.
In the first week of reading the book, I had 3 first-hand testimonies of it working in my little family, and working well. Food poisoning, upset stomach, and diarrhea. In all three situations it worked very quickly. I now have a bottle of activated charcoal in the diaper bag and one in the glove department of my car. I don’t think you should ever be far away from being able to access charcoal! When I got to the part in the book about poisoning, and treating children that have swallowed poison, I became passionate about getting this knowledge out to others, especially mothers. The benefits of charcoal is not commonly known, and thus people don’t have any on hand. But activated charcoal is what is given when you go to the ER after swallowing poison. But there is one problem with this…charcoal works best if given within the first hour. A study was done and it was found that a parent could get the charcoal to a child within 38 min. (a lot parents had to go find some), where as the average time to get charcoal administered in the ER was over 70 min. from the incident. In all of the cases of the home treatment, it worked. But people (including myself) are simply uninformed. No one is proclaiming the wonders of charcoal very loudly as there is not much money to be found in doing so. Activated charcoal is cheap. I want people to be informed. Parents especially! I ended up buying a case of the books, Charcoal Remedies (if you know me very well, this is quite unusual for me to “push” something!) and would love to send you one at cost if you are interested. I am not making a dime on these. My sole motive is to inform people that activated charcoal is well worth looking into!
