Welcome

February 21, 2009

This blog has several purposes. Let me explain.

This will be a place for me to put helpful information that I gather in one place.  I will be able to organize it all and it will be searchable.

My hope and my goal is that this will be a great resource for me, my family, friends and strangers (strangers become friends quickley).

You may find that the things on this site may be different than anything you have heard.

What you read on here may be shocking, frustrating or encouraging.  I do not wish to frustrate but in empower you by giving you the knowledge you need to make educated decisions.

If you walk away from this site and have some new ‘no how’ and are able to do it without fearing that you are making a mistake – one of my missions will be accomplished.

Whatever decisions you are making as a mother, I want you to do it confidently.  Confidently because you know it is in the best interest for you, your child and your family.

Be Blessed

In my state of WI they now give the Dtap shot to mothers once they are 27 weeks pregnant. They claim it is because we have a high case of pertussis in our state. I have a two year old and this was not done when I was pregnant with him. I did not give him vitamin K, Hep B at birth. I worry about the fact that this is new and they do not know if it causes any harm to the baby. My doctor claims that it protects the baby by passing on immunities while in the womb. Dtap is one of the vaccines I did give to my son, though I spaces them out at did not give them all to him. Any thoughts on having the Dtap while pregnant? Thank you!

Do your research… I personally would not get the Dtap while pregnant. I am not afraid of Pertussis – if you do get it and don’t take medication, you’ll have a lifetime immunity to it. Dtap vaccine does not always work – there have been several cases of people getting pertussis even with the vaccine…
